Golden Jubilee Dinner

The Rotary Club of Largs gained its charter in 1958. To mark the 50th anniversary of the Club, a dinner was held in the Willowbank Hotel on Friday, 6th June 2008.

The principal speakers were Katie Clark, MP, Member for North Ayrshire & Arran, and Drew Cochrane, the well known editor of the local paper, The Largs and Millport Weekly News or 'Wee Paper', as it is affectionately known. Other speakers included Drew Hughes, our Rotary District Governor, Bill Tyre, the last surviving founding member of the Club, and Robin Mactaggart, son of the founding President of the Club.

Bruce Clark of Stones Corner Rotary Club, Australia, presented John Watson, President of the Largs Club, with a special Brisbane flag. In return, Bruce was given a set of engraved crystal glasses.
